I just love watermelon juice! I decided to roll the camera the last time I made some for myself to update the recipe I gave you a few months back, and provide some new easy and quick tips on how to peel and cut your watermelons for the best results.
First we need to cut the melon into manageable pieces. Cut your watermelon in half, then in half again (giving you four quarters). Cut those quarters in half the short way, and the just one more time – giving you nice little triangles. This will make it super easy to remove the skin!
Simply take your knife and cut in where the green and white skin meets the pink meat of the melon, and follow that curve of the skin with your blade. It’s quite easy! Once you’ve got that skin removed, cut your watermelon triangles into smaller pieces. If you want to eat a few pieces – go ahead!
To make watermelon juice, you just need a blender – it doesn’t have to be high-speed or anything fancy, just put in your melon pieces and blend. Don’t worry about the seeds at this point.
If you don’t mind those seeds and little bits in your juice, it’s ready to drink as soon as you’re done blending!
I prefer my watermelon juice to be as smooth as possible (just personal preference), so I just use a strainer to filter the juice into a bowl. After filtering, I put everything I filtered out back into the blender with the next batch of watermelon chunks to be blended! Do this a few times until you’ve used up as much watermelon as you want – or you’ve made as much juice as you want. Now it’s time to enjoy!
This is one of my favorite juices, and when you’re drinking yours, you’ll see why. It’s just so smooth and velvety, so tasty, and so good for you too! Isn’t the color just amazing?
